The third umpire debuted in Test cricket at Kingsmead, Durban for the South Africa vs. India series in 1992/93. Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman to be dismissed (run out) by using television replays.

Sachin Tendulkar became the first Test Player to be dismissed by T.V. Replay. He was given run out in the first test match of
1992/93 series against South Africa played at Kingsmead, Durban, South Africa from 13th to 17th November 1992. Mr. C.J. Mitchley was the square leg umpire and Mr. K.I. Liebenberg was the T.V. Umpire in that match.
