No matter what you say or do it will not make a difference! He thinks it is cool and his friends do it. Yes it is against the law for him to smoke but he will find a way to do it. Kids that age have to prove themselves. It is hard growing up these days be glad it is just cigarettes and nothing more. He could be doing a lot of things that are worse. You just have to believe he will really grow up and realize the damage he is doing. Good Luck!

The more you go on at him to stop - the more you are going to make him rebel! It is a matter of pressure from friends to look cool, and the society we live in.
Why not get some info from the Net, on the damage that smoking does to your lungs. Get pictures of people with lung cancer etc., and show them to him. Tell him that you know he is "a man", or that he feels that he is, and you are not going to tell him what to do with his life, but that you just want him to see and understand the consequences of his actions. He will have to decide for himself weather he is going to stop or not. He may even continue to smoke for many years, and then stop. I smoked for 20 years and have now given up.

That's a tough one, because no matter what you tell him he's going to think he's acting grown-up and being cool. But show him this:
My Grandfather smoked his whole life and had his legs amputated because the circulation was so bad they could not be saved.
My Aunt died in 1979 of lung cancer. She was only 50.
My father had to have an operation to fix the circulation in his legs because of smoking. When he was told he would die if he didn't stop, he became an alcoholic and eventually died of a stroke.
I have NEVER smoked and NEVER will because of the damage I have seen cigarettes do to my family.

First of all make your nephew to stop smoking. Smoking is bad habbit & dangores to health & life. More people's smoke to show to others but they don't know just they are inviteing there death in installment. There are some way to stop smoking :
1) Make him too busy in some work.
2) Give him some chewinggum to eat.
3) Make him to be with some one (eg: father , mother )in respect, he unable to smoke infront of them

My older brothers started smoking when they were 15 or 16.
Smoking makes you look older, you lose hair, your hand STINK! And somone told me that you're taking 5 minutes off your life with every ciggarette you smoke.
My dad smokes, and it bothers me. My mom always says I smell like smoke everytime I get out of his car.

I think you need to tell him that smoking can kill him. tell him that every time he is caught smoking, he will be grounded for 2 weeks. You can be strict with him he is NOT an adult after all!!!

Leave him to it... He'll regret it eventually... Smokers cough, susceptible to deseases, can't play sports, gets overweight and dies young... :D All possible outcomes... ;)
If you try to force him to stop, he'll just do it in secret...
