Friend - God's existence is evident to me through everything around me, particularly in nature, but also in people as well. It is the sound of children laughing and playing, the smile on the face of those I love. It is having answers to my prayers, not always what I choose, but according to God's will. It is in the sound of music and in the singing voice, in the sunrise, the snow, the wind. It is now and every moment of every day. GBY

Of all the different arguments to prove the existence of God, I have to say the only one that really proves it is the intelligent design argument. Even though science rejects it completely, I've found little real evidence to counteract this argument despite three years of university education in a science degree. There may have been a time when belief in God was based on something less than evidence - blind faith, but I think today, the more we discover about the world, the more evidence there is to support the idea that life as we see it today could not have simply erupted out of nothing. Scientific theories such as evolution have dealt a blow, but there are so many things about life that are beyond scientific reasoning and logic that I can't help but believe there must be a grand creator. Also, many scientific theories like evolution suffer the same problems and make very similar unrealistic assumptions and extrapolations to explain the unexplainable. Although this is the mark of science, this particular theory is getting wilder and wilder. On the other hand, as a scientist, I definitely understand the limitations of science in explaining philosophy and I realise that no other theory (including the existence of God) would even hope to stand up scientifically. I just wish sometimes that people would remember this when they base their whole life philosophy on such a theory.
I've heard almost every argument against the existence of God, and the conclusion I've come to is that if you choose to blindly believe that everything is explainable with scientific facts, we just don't know them yet, and maybe never will, then you don't believe in God. On the other hand, if you choose to blindly believe that there is some supreme invisible being who is all powerful, all knowing and infinitely good, then you do believe in God. It just comes down to which pill you find easier to swallow, and based on the arguments in favour of each I find the God one easier to swallow, It seems really unbelievable at first, but you can quickly and easily reason it out. The other is the exact opposite - it seems so reasonable at first, but you very quickly get into a big mess until it just doesn't make sense.

P.S. this is to 40oz2freedom. I've been studying science all my life, and I've heard the alternative. I'm an adept mathematician and logician, and the conclusion that I've come to is that the answers science provide are more coverups than the ones religion provides. Just because someone says something confidently doesn't mean it's right, try to actually question some of the things that science tells you, and you'll very quickly see the huge cracks in the patchwork. In my opinon, if you can't see a problem with both sides of the story, you aren't looking hard enough. Also, arguing that all the world has changed to this way of thinking makes you a sheep!
If you would, I'd love to hear your full scientific account of how the world came to be - email me fj1687@yahoo.com If you're this confident, you should have all the answers.

Every house has a maker and that is obvious to anybody therefore someone had to make the earth and the universe and everything in it because that is zilions of times more complex than a house. How could a single cell carry the info that it does unless it was designed? What proves that someone existed and invented the computer? Well the proof is that we can use the end product. So it is with GOd, he /she made it all and we have the benefit. The bible told us that the world was round centuries before man knew that.Isiah Chapter 40 verse 22

Read and decide for yourself- Existence of God: facts and figures Does God exist?

If you are a theist... you already believe in the Existence of God! If you are an atheist... you look forward to clues which would scientifically or otherwise prove the Existence of God.

Both the theories are correct. It is only saying that the glass is half full and the other half empty! Belief in the Existence of God stems from extreme faith in the system of God the Almighty Creator. Being on the highest level of manifestation... human beings understand that nothing gets created on its own.

If we believe in the fact that the whole cosmos is the creation of God then we believe in the surmise that "God Does Exist". On the contrary atheists desire a proof of Existence of God. As per Jainism beliefs there is no Existence of God and they do not believe in the existence of a Creator. According to Jainism the Cosmos exists from times immemorial.

Believing in the Existence of God is like believing in the existence of a flower. Even though a flower may not be directly visible to us but we can feel its presence by the fragrance it emits... God also exists but we cannot see it due to the limitations of the senses. God the Almighty is beyond the capture of the senses and the mind.

Why is it so that strong nonbelievers of God tend to believe in God the moment they face abnormal adversities in life. The sweet small voice which seems to come from within the body... the voice of our soul the atman within... is it not God in its miniscule form guiding us always and ever? Does it not confirm the Existence of God in its entirety?

Why do we at all require more proofs regarding Existence of God? The movement of the stars, the planets and the cosmic system as a whole... is it not governed by the invisible hands of God the Almighty Creator of the Cosmos.

Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred of all Scriptures existing on Mother Earth confirms the existence of the Almighty God. As narrated in Bhagavad Gita... God the Almighty explains the reasons of exploding the self... the start of the journey of the various Souls Atmans... and creation of the Cosmos itself.

If there was no God the Almighty Creator... then the concept of big bang theory itself would have failed prematurely. No God... no big bang theory... no creation of the Cosmos and there would never have been a solar system nor our Mother Earth and even us. The existence of GOD...hmmm...watching a baby born, something so wonderful and unbeleivable...who could ever come up with the concept to make a baby inside a human but GOD..that is with any breathing animal...intelligent or unintelligent the same concept happens. How can science do that? How would a body know how long to stay inside til it was ready to come into this world?

As I look around me everyday there are things, little things that show GODs existence...the sky in it's most magnificate ways of performing art could only be done by GODs hands...watching the changing of the seasons is another wonder that science plays a part in but who thought up the idea that leaves change at certain times of the year...the great storms that sweep over our world who thought of such way to cleanse the world.

One more thought to every one there is another or opposite, such as good or evil...up or down...day or night...life or death...these things were not created by science in no means...these things were brought forth by the Higher being known as our Lord God.

As for me I believe in Him and no one or anything on this earth or any other planet can convince me otherwise.

I don't think that a person on either end of the spectrum can conclusively claim that they have some sort of empirical proof that He/She does or doesn't exist. Both strict religious adherents and hardline Atheists are wrong in saying so. A truly analytical, objective person is someone who can claim that they don't know; more to the point, that the topic is unknowable, since there isn't sufficient evidence to swing a rational mind one way or the other. I think it's perfectly fine to say that you lean more towards this position or that position based on the evidence that points you that way, but must be willing to fully acknowledge that you could be wrong since there isn't enough proof to completely persuade you.

Personally, I would need some sort of a direct communication from God in order to believe in His/Her existence. Anything else is intellectually insufficient at best.

It seems that people confuse how to PROVE that God exists and how to KNOW that he does. These are two different notions. I can KNOW that there is a pink elephant in the conrner of my room but that doesnt prove that there is - for after all I might be hallucinating or deluded. To prove, therefore, is to find OBJECTIVE evidence for or against something and to rely solely on the subjective account of others is no proof whatsoever. People who say: The proof for Gods existence is that he helps me when I am in dire circumstances -- or they sometimes say : Look around you at nature. But that doesnt prove anything! It is just a reflection of a BELEIF you have and not of an OBJECTIVE matter of fact. And besides it is logically unsound to say that I know God exists because when I am stuck he helps me !!! You are using what you need to prove to prove itself !! Anyways: YOU CANNOT PROVE THE EXISTENCE OF GOD. Why? Because no metaphysical axiom can be proven to be necessary. What that means is that God is a metaphysical notion, and while you can hold it, if you want, as an axiom of life you can never ever prove that he does or doesnt exist. All you can do is express your OWN beliefs about the matter and that is no proof in itself. Well thats what I think. Anyways,, happy proving..

When I invited Jesus Christ to come into my life, everything changed. A peace came into my heart & mind. He helped me stop stealing and become a giver instead of a taker. Whenever I apply the Bible to my life, my life takes on more meaning. Possessions, positions, money, & even friends just didn't do that for me. Seeing those positive changes inside of myself convinced me that God was real. Then the possessions & positions & money & friends took on new meaning. However there are evidences all around me in nature of God's existance, as well as when I look at my own body structure that convinces me of God's existance. I have no problem believing he exists. My main challenge is to cooperate with God in becoming more like his son Jesus Christ.

My parents got divorced last year. One night, my mother was yelling and screaming at me and ended the conversation by saying that she no longer had a daughter and was disowning me. I came home and picked up the Bible looking for some comfort. I even thought to myself, "there won't be anything really specifically for me. It's always general. How can it help me?" I am not lying when I say the first passage I turned to in this huge Bible was Psalm 27:10. "Even if your father and mother abandon you, the Lord cares for you." Now how could that be a coincidence? One of the many ways he proves himself, but I thought it was pretty important.

I dont think that any of us are in position to PROVE the existence of God. Surely, many philosophers have tried to PROVE God's existence/non-existence and all they provide us with is ways of demonstrating God's existence - but not actually PROVING that God exists.

Take Thomas Aquinas's "FIVE WAYS," for example (or William Paley's Teleological Argument). They do not prove that God exists. But they merely provide experiential ways of showing/demonstrating God's existence from our experience. We do not have direct PROOF of the existence of God. Rather, from our experience, we can either postulate God's existence of attribute certain things as being God-made or supernatural - hence the existence of God.

That's why religious belief is primariy based of FAITH rather than PROOF!
