I actually had a similar situation happen to my husband. We bidded on a racing collector set, won bid at like $20 or so when the gentleman was trying to get a lot more. We went to pick up the item and the man told us that he didn't care, he was just glad to get some money for something that he didn't need sitting in his garage. So don't worry about it, you don't know if the seller will be upset or not. It's not your fault that you were the first and only bidder. Definately take the bargin and run!!!
Have a great day

I would pay the 99p...if the seller didnt want the item to go for less he should have put a reserve on the item...therefore any bids made on the item will not win unless the reserve is met.
No reserve means you pay for the item at the price it was won.
Those are the rules and its only fair that you stick to them.

there's no reserve in this merchandise ok, does it element out the note "reserve" everywhere? No it doesn't. maximum auctions do no longer have reserves because it expenses the broking service better in expenses to positioned a reserve fee on the object. The ninety 9 cents change into the start bid, decrease staring bids advise the broking service will pay a lot less Ebay expenses. For this merchandise there's a bidding public sale happening the position Ebay individuals bid & wish they the utmost bidder so that they win the object. there is also a "purchase it Now" public sale meaning you pays the $four hundred asking fee & purchase the phone devoid of having to bid. If someone does this the conventional public sale will be over. If no one "buys it now" then the utmost bidder will win the phone. maximum auctions of this nature are received in the most suitable few seconds so in case you'll bid do not bid too quickly because somebody else will bid adversarial to you & the fee is going up & up, large for the broking service no longer so sturdy for you attempting to get a good purchase. Wait until eventually the most suitable minute actually earlier putting your bid. in straight forward words bid what you are able to manage to pay for to pay & be very careful of something that seems too sturdy to be genuine because it continuously is. i in my opinion does no longer purchase something this intense in fee from an Ebayer with a feedback of in straight forward words 3

When you start an auction you know there are risks involved. You can also put in a minimun price that has to be bid before you put your item for auction. It was a fair auction, so there's no need to feel bad about it.
If you do feel that you want to pay more for it, sure go a head, nobody is stopping you.

Personally, I would take the bargain but your having a moral dilema over this so maybe offer him what you think is reasonable or consider to still be a bargain. Some sellers sell so many things that it will make little difference to them what you pay so check out the sellers history first. You have earned an awful lot of Karma points just thinking about this regardless of what you pay hehehe :o)

Surely if you start the bid at £5.00 then you would pay £5.00 and not 99p ??? Whatever you win the item at - thats the luck of the auction and thats why reserves are put there xx

Neither I'd be more worried that the thing isn't worth 99p. Why should you worry about a stranger not getting full price for what they are selling. He's probably a mean person who beats his wife and kids, leaving them to starve in the cellar. Auctions are a gamble the greedy git probably was sitting home rubbing his hands together in anticipation. If he had any sense he'd bid for it himself.

I pay the 99p and feel delighted with the bargain. If the seller really wanted more money, he'd have put a reserve on it. You know the deal when you sell on Ebay. Don't feel bad - he won't be secretly hating you or anything.

It is one of those things tha isn'y your fault. If they had really wanted to get a higher price they would have put a reserve on it which only costs something like 50p, they didn't and you bid fairly ebays transactions are legally binding so well done you grabbed a bargin. Hope it was something good!
