This is what I did for my wife:

Packed a mobile dinner with olive spreads, hummous, three bean salad, stuffed chillis, cut fruit, cold cuts, cheese, fresh Italian baguette, crackers, a bottle of really nice red wine, 2 long candles, 2 blankets, some glow sticks, 2 plastic glasses. Had the picnic on Tanjong Beach with candles and glow sticks. Went for a walk on the beach by the moonlight with her. Gave her a basket of small presents - all small stuff that is more fun than expensive (e.g. some new sunglasses, a Perlini's necklace, some pre-made scenes cut from construction paper and stickers that she can use to play with our son).

You'll blow her mind, you won't bankrupt yourself and it's pretty easy to do (but needs a day to go shopping for all the stuff). The bad news... tough to top it next year, lah!

You can try dining in the cable car while traveling between HarbourFront and Sentosa. There is a total of 5 course menu to be served. So you can soak up the romance, lights as well as beautiful scenery with your loved one while enjoying the meal. The price is S$188 per cable car cabin. If you want something expensive, why don't you have dinner at shangri-la hotel's the line restaurant? After dinner, you can admire the christmas decorations as well as listen to the live music in the lobby of the hotel.
