Absolutely NOT, it's prejudicial (if not racist) no matter WHAT race it is.

What they should be able to consider (and I believe they do this) is the type of background the applicant has come from and what struggles (financial or otherwise) they have had to overcome.

To admit yes. To deny no.

You want a diverse campus so If you need to lower requirements a little to let a few people in, that's fine. But if that number of slightly under qualified students becomes excessive, it cuts down on some of the deserving people who have better qualifications from the majority race (and sex).
So yeah I think it's okay to use it to let a FEW minorities in and give them a chance, but not so many as to it denying a white girl (or whatever majority is) from getting in who is qualified

My school's bigger problem than that was sex. Girls SAT's were about 150 points higher b/c they had about 4,000 (of 30,000) more girls in the school and were trying to balance that out..

absolutely not.

if they accept you because your white then they will Deny you because you not white.

they have been using race for as long as they have been teaching. there is no reasonable solution to this question because if you make it a point to accept a certain number of minorities then you will Deny a a group of majority simply because they are not the color that they are looking for. they need to focus more on the places where the students come from and use that as a basis for a more divers campus. but even that at times is hard when you don't have the applicants.

i don't think it should be a factor. i think that people should be admitted on a basis of scores only. just like jobs, every year many people who are highly qualified for jobs lose out to those who are less qualified but are admitted because they are needed to fill the race quota. it's unfair.
