Halle Berry is the obvious choice, as she has been so successful and popular. I like Sanaa Lathan and Gabrielle Union, and Zoe Saldana. I think they are great actresses and beautiful too. I wish they would do more movies. So far it seems to be either not quite the leading parts in mostly white movies, or they star in mostly black casts. That needs to change.
But then again, how many white actresses, who are the majority, can really carry a film as it's main star?? I haven't seen much of that. Since there are less black women in the public eye in Hollywood, it makes sense that we can't name as many that are bankable as you say.

After Dreamgirls later this month, Beyonce's star will rise. Halle Berry is hot but not bankable. Remember that no one really went to see Monster's Ball, which happens to contain her best and Oscar winning performance. Queen Latifah is up there in my book.

Of course not, why else do you think they gave Denzel and Halle the oscars when they did. It's a sad state of affairs when two actors such as them get oscars for playing a bad, violent cop and a seemingly deranged hooker. He should have won for three different movies before that one (philadelphia to name one) and she just wasn't that great in her movie....and sadly, it just wasn't that great of a movie. It is not good because there are so many good actors of color and even white, but we live in a plastic society where flash gets rewarded instead of talent. be well, Jack

oh, C-mon. Isn't it Oprah enough for all black people?
She is the greatest on TV and never had precedence, I think will not have in the near future.
