I don't think many well-read people would agree - their lyrics weren't THAT good! Staying within that psychedelic/"hippe" category - Pete Sinfield, Keith Reid, Pete Brown, 1969-era David Bowie, the early Peter Gabriel and Peter Hammill, all wrote lyrics with more poetic interest than the MBs.

I don't think the Moody Blues got enough credit. I saw them in concert at Jones Beach. Fantastic.
