You heard right, Albert.

The pilot episode of the series was called 'The Seinfeld Chronicles.' And the actual script for that episode arrived at NBC from Castle Rock Studios with a show title that didn't even have the name Seinfeld in it: 'Stand-Up.'

You're right, it did have a different title, in fact, it was a completely different show. The first "Seinfeld" was a bizarre mixture of stand-up comedy followed by a 'skit' that illustrated whatever the joke was. It sucked donkey, and was almost cancelled after about 4-6 shows. Instead, the network pulled that show and completely rewrote and reworked it; the "new" show is what we now all know as "Seinfeld".
