I am seeing my normal OB he also has me seeing a high risk pregnancy specialist. I am supposed to see each doctor every other week (so I see a ob every week) due to past pregnancy complications. I am only 7 weeks! An my copay are already obserd! My husband was thinking I should just ask to switch to the specialist for full care so we don't have to pay the specialist copay of $50 every other week and the regualar copay of $20. Has anyone ever done so & did insurance co. go along with it?

Thanks for the help

I did, I was high risk with my twins who did end up being born pretty prematurely, but they are about 8 1/2 months and very healthy!
However, with my insurance anyways....a specialist is a specialist, you can change him to your primary OB if your OB gives you that referral for him and the specialist agrees but you would still be responsible for specialist copays, everytime.....

Its the same way with my twins when they have to see their specialist now....they each have an individual specialty copay, it sucks!!
I would call and speak with a cust. service rep. from your insuranace to make sure, but I'm pretty sure its the same. They are incurring much greater costs with you seeing the specialists, just the facility, testings, and techniques....my bills were thousands!!
To be honest though, it will be worth it when you give birth to a healthy child, and if something does go wrong, like my case...they really are more experienced.....Talk to the specialist and explain your situation, see if there are any alternatives, my Dr's were very understanding, cause they know all too well the hassles of insurance companies!!

Sorry this was pretty long, I hope it helped...
GOOD LUCK HONEY, I know its stressfull :)

no but I don't see why they wouldn't agree with this, you're saving them money too
