like anything. people will ask where i want to eat. i tell them i dont care. and then we go somewhere and they think i'm 'settling for less' or whatever. but the thing is, i just really dont care. i dont care where i eat. i don't care if i have to drive, or if you want to drive, or whatever. i don't care if you drink my beer or make yourself feel at home. why is this so hard for people to accept?

you probably realize that little things like that are pretty unimportant. who drives doesn't matter to you because it doesn't change where you're going or when you get there. plus it's considerate to defer to others' opinions if you have no preference.

people get annoyed by this either when they feel the same way (no opinions gets no results) or when they are trying to go out of their way to accomidate you, in which case, come up with something fast to humor them.

I find it sad how you say, "sometimes I find it rather funny and exaggerated that they cry over nonsense". Everyone has their own battles... what seems like nothing to one person can be very difficult to another person. Try to put yourself in their shoes and find empathy. There is a lot of suffering in the world, and it is part of bible prophesy, so we should not be surprised at the state of the world. 2 Tim 3:2-5 says, "For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away." Try to find joy in the fact that Jehovah will take care of everyone and that people will find happiness on a paradise earth. Rather than thinking of the bad things, try imagining how wonderful it will be when all those children in Africa will have food, clean water, and not want for anything. Pray for that day, and spread that joy wherever you go. If you are really having a hard time and are very depressed, i'd recommend talking to your congregation elders. "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” - Rev 21:4

My niece and I are like that. It takes a minute for us to decide what to do. lol Don't sweat the small stuff. 10 years down the road are you going to be effected by where you ate, if you drove, or someone else drank your beer? Looking at the big picture is a way to gauge this. As long as you are not afraid to give your opinion when you have one don't sweat it, roll with it.

People are probably seeing you as being lonely or sad.

They're trying to help. Let them help or soon you won't have any friends. You might even enjoy yourself.

Asking how you are, or what you'd like to eat is just a way of showing kindness.

David,
Really it is not normal. You are not living and interacting in your life you are just floating through it. Opinions and feelings are important. Lack of empathy is not a good sign. Apathy really can end up making you feel alone after awhile.

Just say something -- pick something. Is that so hard to do? If you don't care it shouldn't matter at all.
