I love them, but nonetheless...how come most models have "depressing" eyes? Does it give a sense of depth?

what do you mean depressing?
It depends on what image the photographer/client tells you to convey.
High fashion editorials want more serious facial expressions (it is less approachable so therefore it creates an aura of fashion being a fantasy--since there is still a certain distance between the model on the magazine and the person who looks at the picture)
...where as commercial modeling calls for perky, smiling photos. (As seen on most magazine covers. This is because smiling faces are more welcoming and approachable and thus more inviting for people buying the magazine.
Also, not smiling makes eye bags less visible in photos.

some circumstances. The worst replaced into as a mushy human being, were given stuck with my lady friend in a civil conflict graveyard through a park ranger. He ripped us for skipping college & desecrating the graveyard.

Yes I know what you mean, the My God I'm so beatiful, nobody is as pretty as me and this so depresses me look...It definately adds caracter & depth... :)
