It's as real as you want it to be. Clap your hands if you believe.

It's acting and while they do often accidently hurt each other there would be dead wrestlers every week if it were real.
Do you think someone could survive being hit over the head with a metal chair wielded by some big guy 5 or 6 times and then come back and wrestle the next day if it was for real.
Also try having your head repeatedly rammed into the the steel ring post by some big guy on steroids and not be killed.
It's just entertaining comedy but it is fun to watch as long as you know it isn't for real.

It's improvised choreography made to look like actual fighting. Although they do actually hurt themselves but not to the degree of if they were doing real fighting.
I'm sure the wrestlers can sometimes get mad at each other for whatever reason and do real damage. However, almost all the matches and plots that go on the show are scripted.

The storyline and plot are all acting, but the actual wrestling and pain is real, although there are some moves that are more acting and little to no pain.

I say it's a bit of both. Okay yeah sure there's story lines and all the cameras which make it acting. But these guys and gals don't just break ribs and bus themselves up on purpose. Of course some of it's real because they get hurt all the time and you can see that.

It's the same way as saything that breaking someone's limb in the ring or having a marital affair with a monster is real or acting.
I think of WWE as kind of a 'soap opera' for guys who don't want to cry over. It's exciting, it action-packed, and they do get injured and bleed to death. Outside the ring they'd be drinking buddies or his/her spotter when it comes to the gym for bench presses and give advice on how to relieve pain and stress, and in front of the cameras they'd scream, cuss, and beat the tar out of each other. If you want realism you should try UFC (especially the earlier matches when it began. It's brutal), but if you want something to heighten your sense of manliness (especially with them DIVAS) in a fun way, WWE is the way to go!

it's all acting! how could someone get hit continuously with a steel chair, or have a ladder dropped on them and still get up and finish the fight? Did you see the street match between Kane and MVP? If you did, you'll see my point.

All acting - I get really cross with people who think it's so real. It is obviously acted out.
