You need to do a lot of research. You need to find out what kind of business is doing well and also the kind of location where it does well. You also need to evaluate your personal interests. It doesn't do any good to open a business if you hate what you're doing. Don't open a business in a location with five other shops just like on the same street. Find out what kind of people buy the product that you want to sell or maintain and open in an area where they live. Also, do research on what it takes to be a successful business owner. Many shops fail because the owner doesn't know how to run it in a professional manner.
If I were you, I would decide kind of business I wanted to run then I would get a job in business similar to the one I wanted to own. I'd learn everything there was to know about the product and how to operate a money-making business selling the product. When you open your business don't be an amateur.
