Women are still instinctively most attracted to men that display strong physical traits who are viewed as having superior genetic characteristics and good looks. That's why the cheerleaders always go for the football players instead of the chemistry nerds, it's basic mating instinct.

Good question. For myself I have always been drawn to people both men and women who are more complex. Perhaps because I've been told that I am a complex person. I have had some experience with uncomplicated straightforward people and they can be very nice but after a time I find that I get easily bored being with them. My husband is extremely complex and intriguing but I don't really have a hard time figuring him out. We just fit together really well. I guess it could be human nature to want to be with someone who you feel is a little smarter than you feel you are. In my case I aspire to reach his level. Not sure if I answered your question satisfactorily but I thought I'd give it a shot.

As long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to the fantastic, the deep, the dark, the artistic and intelligent the not so obvious aspects of humanity and the people who hold the keys to them...
In men, and women it is sexy and alluring because I believe that it is a trait that people in general aspire toward. We always find those that hold (or seem to hold) the things that we want to posses for ourselves more attractive and those who we feel are below us... we use to empower us. It is very primal actually.
It is just attractive to some...
and probably goes all the way back to the same principals of the Golden Mean in physical attraction and it's expectations used for vectoring the body and face to determine genetic perfection in a standard mold?
This is a great question! I find myself strangely attracted to you all of a sudden.
LOL... (kidding)

I think it depends on the woman. I'm drawn to intelligent men; I'm not so sure that they're complex but they are more interesting. I like a guy who doesn't brag so that it takes more time to know him.

Well, I don't know if I agree with your description of the situation. Women seem to be attracted to men that are less than nice, and seem to rationalize that the men are hard to figure out. Women need to consciously examine what they are attracted to and break any bad patterns of behavior they may have learned from their parents. Nice guys are not necessarily weak. Mean guys who lie or do cruel things are not necessarily complicated nor good life partners.

I assume it's different for different people. Personally, I like men - or anyone I associate with regularly - to have dimension. Stupid or simple people frustrate me and I can't spend much time with them. Complex people give me interesting, intellectually stimulating conversation and challenge me so my mind doesn't turn to mush from lack of use. That's important to me.

Women ARE complex people. They are comfortable with others who share that trait and have a hard time understand others who don't.
