It means she wants a Harry Potter scarf!!

Use a circular needle -- once you've cast on the called-for number of stitches, join the ends and just keep knitting round & round. Put a stitch marker at the point of the join so you'll know where to change colors.

This article has a good tutorial on joining in the round, if you've never done it before.

You knit in the round. This is done with a circular needle or with four double-ended needles. Or with a special circular peg thing, somewhat larger than the little kid's "knitting" tool that makes a long skinny snake. The easy way is a circular needle. You just keep knitting. It can be so hypnotic you can do it without thinking, while watching a movie or doing anything that does not require your hands. Just knit stitch. Stockinette stitch is the normal "knit" stitch.

stockinette stitch is where you knit all RS and purl all WS rows. go ahead and knit the scarf out to it's complete length..IT WILL CURL!!! stockinette stitch ALWAYS curls and you can't do anything really efferctive about it!! after you finish the scarf, you'll see that the sides curl inward and under, and the scarf looks tube-ish. what you can then do, is sew the two sides of the scarf together to complete the tube effect.

hope this helps :D

My grandma would definitely know the answer to this....and more.... but if I had to make a guess... You knit it in tubes as you go... maybe you knit then meet the beginning row to the ending row and join them to make a tube.... not for sure... usually there is a term dictionary in the beginning of a pattern book... good luck
