Yes, he should go for the following reasons:
1. He has the stats to be an automatic hall of famer.
2. What steroid did he take?? He took Creatine, which is a body building enhancer but is not a steroid.
3. Even if Sosa and McGuire were jacked up on every steroid known to man, there was no rule against it in baseball until after their record-breaking chase.
4. People say McGuire and Sosa carried baseball in the 1996-1998 seasons. Although I agree with ESPN announcer Mike Greenberg that if they did not do it, someone else would have stepped up and carried baseball...I do believe that they were the best ambassadors for baseball at that time. Can you picture Barry Bonds and Manny Ramirez having the same good-guy media image for the game of baseball as those two had?
5. It's not like McGuire came out of nowhere and started hitting monster number of homreuns. 10 out of 11 seasons where McGuire played 100 games or more, he hit over 30 homers.

As you can tell, I am a very strong supporter of McGuire going into the hall of fame. HOWEVER, I don't think he is a first ballot hall of famer, just because of the legends he is facing on the ballot this year. Ripken and Gwynn are average everyday guys who went to work everyday and worked hard at perfecting their craft. They became legends while they were playing, not for monster homerun numbers, or huge strikeout numbers, but for doing the simple things in the game to perfection and showing every Tom, Dick and Harry out there that if you work hard at what you believe in, you too can acheive greatness. They were ambassafors to the game every day of their lives. I am hoping the Hall of Fame voters are smart enough to vote McGuire in on the second ballot.

I used to think that he should've been in the Hall of Fame. He's gotten a lot of home runs and he's even beaten the single season HR record, along with Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds. But then we learn the truth, on how all 3 of them cheated their way with steroids. Steroids is an illegal drug, and with this proof, we can say that these 3 superstars got their way to become a superstar by using this illegal drug. So, in conclusion, I do not think that Mark McGuire should be accepted into the Hall of Fame. Even if he is, they should have an * next to his name, just like in the record books.

If yes for Mark, then Pete Rose should be in the Hall. He is the all-time hit leader, a record that will probably NEVER be broken. Mark cheated while playing and without the enhancement he may not have broken the HR record.

enable's see. a million. Did Mark McGwire use steroids with Jose Canseco in Oakland? definite! If no longer why has McGwire no longer sued Canseco for defamation of character? i could if somebody lied approximately me to that degree. 2. In1998 and ninety 9 did McGwire use androstendione? definite. Androstendione is a banned substance in all different considerable activities which incorporate the Olympics. It replaced into no longer a banned substance in baseball in the time of 1998 and 1999. Mark and countless different gamers took great thing approximately this loop hollow baseball provided for them and took androstendione. as quickly as baseball found out androstendione replaced into banned in the different game via it is result, MLB banned it as nicely. Too little, too overdue, Mark has the checklist now. Mark is responsible as sin on the two counts. He shot up with Canseco and he juiced up in 1998 and 1999 to get the checklist. Sorry Cardinal followers. No guy that does this to usa's activity merits to be interior the hall of repute.

Absolutely. He may be guilty in the public eye for suspicion of cheating but he's never been caught. He retired the same year that steroids were made illegal in Major League Baseball. The facts are, even if he used steroids, he never tested positive but even if he used it, it wasn't illegal in baseball during his era. Nobody's saying anything about the spitballers in the Hall of Fame who played baseball before spitballs were outlawed and the same should be said of steroids. It's after the fact that matters if a person breaks the rules of baseball where the line should be drawn. For a Palmeiro who was caught after steroids were banned from baseball, he is one who should not be allowed. Even if McGwire cheated, he never broke any rules. Not a first balloter, but definitely a Hall of Famer in my book

YES!!!! HE DID ADMIT TO USING ANDRO WHEN ASKED REMEMBER???? Now with that said baseball has a way of turning against its players that help them rise out of the ashes(strike year) when fans turn against it. Now that Mcgwire will not help them again he will be pnished by not making first ballot. What is 70 -49? i believe it is 21. By the way 49 is the number of HOME RUNS Mark hit in ummm..... HIS ROOKIE YEAR!!!! Look at all the people who have been caught. The number do not lie. Big Mac always hit homeruns. Baseball is looking for a scapegoat.

On a side note.... Pete Rose?? He was caught red handed while he was the MANAGER of the team he was betting on. Mcgwire had only 3,4,maybe 5 at bats in a game. Not control of a whole line up. Get your heads out of the gutter and look at the facts people.

Mark McGwire's baseball accomplishments deserve enshrinement in Cooperstown. Anything that may have, allegedly, affected his performance should not factor in here. Number 1,no wrong doing has been proven. In fact, it has barely even been alleged. There has been more innuendo and whispering than outright allegations in McGwire's case. If you look at the numbers, nobody ever hit more home runs, in fewer chances, than McGwire.
Then again, there is his other career numbers. 1600 hits, nearly 1600 strikeouts, and a career batting average of .263. These are all less than great.

Not until they fully investigate if he did use steroids or not but the fact that your shady already makes me want to say no!!!

When you do things the right way like Tony Gwynn there is no doubt you should be in the hall of fame.

But with McGuire I think it's good they wait till next year when everything either clears up or comes out!

No. He was a cheater and a liar. He doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame because his use of steroids seriously calls into question his accomplishments.

Chow!!
