I'm a Labor & Delivery nurse for too long now,,,LOL First this , just do exactly what the physician tells you to do...I started labor at 28 weeks, and was put in the hospital for a few days to stop contractions,. with the grace of god, all went well and I carried full term. Are you on work release due to this? If not, ask you Dr. to set up early maternity leave due to complications. Ultrasound is the only was to determine the fetus wait at this point, and they are exceptionally advanced now... Text book normal pregnancy, the fetus can weigh as much as a pound, and it is a serious condition your in. Just, stay off your feet as much as he advises, no lifting AT ALL. and if things get to a certain stage, (early labor starts) you will be admitted to the hospital, and more than likely placed on Magnesium IV therapy to stop labor, and the Doctors will keep the baby inside as long as nature and medicine allow to help develope those precious lungs. Which by the way is usually the main concern....Pray, Meditate, Get that family support involved, wither they want to or not....I'll be praying for you....Stay calm, catch up on some reading...and talk to your baby!!! Your voice does, and will help this outcome....Blessing! Joi

Buy the book: What To Expect When Your Expecting. This book is awesome. I have problems with fibroid tumors in the womb and sciatica. (which is causing burning and cramps in my legs and back.) This book even talks about that. Let's see hold on.....o.k the book says: The baby by the end of 6 months will weigh 1 3/4 pounds and is about 13 inches long. It's skin is thin and shiny with no underlying fat. It's finger and toe prints are now visible. The eyelids begin to part and the eyes open. With intensive care the fetus may survive if born now. I wish you and the baby safety and blessings. Hope this helped.

At the end of the 6th month, the fetus is 11 to 14 inches long and weighs 1 to one and a half pounds.

Here is a in utero photo of a 6 month fetus, good luck

Here are some good does & don'ts for bed rest never lft anything over 8 oz (my ob told me) ask insurance co. if a home nurse can check on you weekly or bi-weekly (mne paid for it) Buy or borrow a mini fridge have hubby pour water milk drinks and put them in along with snack & lunch, keep next to bed. If you are very concerned get a bed pan for urinating (my ob made me) Inlist friends & family to come keep you company (you can go crazy on bed rest) plus they can help you get dressed tp the bathoom etc. Get a shower chair high risk pregnacies are usually not allowed to lay in a bath & standing in shower can be dangerous your legs mussles will weaken from not walking (some insurance co's will pay for the shower chair) Lastly get you OB to prescribe in home physical theropy (leg & arm stretches or have family , friends& hubby do....THIS IS IMPORTANT if you do not move arms legs etc you are at hogh risk for deadly blood clots.

Talk to OB about having your hubby tour & videotape the NICU & ask for a phone or home chat w/ a neonataologist they can help you to cope & understand what to expect out of your baby. Good Luck & God Bless

It really varies. My baby at 6 months was 27.5" and 18.5 lbs, but I think he's "overgrown" (lol) because people usually guess he's 10 months old. My friend's baby was 24" and 14 lbs at 6 months. Both of our babies are healthy. If your baby is growing and gets a clean bill of health from the doctor, then don't worry about it. :-)

Hi
Not sure about 6 months. My daughter was born at 23.2 weeks, she weighed 450 grams (just under a lb). She's now 3.5 years old. Try and do as little as possible and rest as much as you can. Good luck.

6 months gestation? your baby would probably weigh about 2-2 and 1/2 pounds. If you're on bed rest you should do nothing more than shower, go to the bathroom and maybe get up to eat. Other than that you need to be sitting or laying down.
