cruel question - yes, he deliberately toyed with death on numerous occasions, but to say he 'had it coming' ? Hardly. Show some respect for a man who lived life to its fullest, and refused to be a coward - fear indeed, that which may kill you, but never stay afraid, for there is much to do. Steve Irwin is an inspiration to all who move among the wild. just rotton luck, is it. a d*mn shame he has left us.

NO, He was trying to teach the world about crocodiles and other things. Steve was an awesome person, who died doing what he loved, and his little girl is doing some of the same.

The question implies that there was a moral imbalance which needed to be returned to equilibrium. Steve Irwin was an educator who used his bravado to interest people in zoology. He, as others have stated already, was aware of the risks of his profession and was also aware he would probably die working.
He didn't have anything "coming". It was just an accident which robbed us of a controversial educator and showman.

most occupations have risk. from a person at McD's getting burned by a fryer all the way to a soldier taking a bullet in the head. we all know the risk and we decide that the money or fame is worth it. i for one am a soldier and a police officer. i assume the risk of being shot at any given point of my day...but the excitement and honor is worth it!

I myself don't think he had it coming. I believe he died doing something he loved and respected. He understood the thrill and the great danger of his job. He came across as a happy, and easy going person who enjoyed his work. No, he didn't have it coming. Steve Irwin was taken too soon..God Bless him and his family.

No. But he was doing what he loved and knew the risks. I miss the guy even though I usually didn't watch his show.

My best bet would be he must of done something really bad that karma must have caught up to him (cheat, lie, steal)
Or it could have simply been his time to go, plain enough...

NO! But he died doing what he loved doing.
And his wife, kids & friends have all behaved admirably.
More than I can say about some other people...
hint, hint...

He didn't 'have it coming' as in deserve to die, but with his occupation, it was always on the cards, and unfortunately, it did happen!
