1st things first. The stage, it's a sanctuary. Talk to your teacher, if they don't tend to demand respect from your classmates, they NEED to be fired. It may help to go see if your drama teacher can sit in the house and critique you while you perform a monologue, with no one else around. Notice how I said critique not criticize. Also my drama teacher, for the school plays/musicals, allows us to try out, but put "DO NOT CAST" on the form! the people trying out for a position are all nervous too, so it should put you in a position where you can comfortable build your confidence on stage. and if you ever do a play, or want to for that matter, just think about how it would feel to be on stage during curtain call when the audience gives you a standing ovation! HINT: There is no better feeling in the world.

Get over it and do it. If you can't act in front of your peers, how are you going to do it in front of a bunch of 'important' people who could determine the course of your career?
Often local colleges have theatre groups as well, check around and see if you can join up. Those folks take it a little more seriously, and it'll help you learn how to get by in a room FULL of histronics (that's a blast, lemme tell you, ugh!).

That's part of the process. Don't be afraid of it. If you bomb nothing happens to you. It may go away with more time. It will definitely be less of a concern with time. I learned not to be so self-concious eventually. One good way to overcome it is to focus all of your attention on your scene partner. There are excercises you can do where you stink intentionally! That is to get you to stop fearing being bad. Ask your acting teacher about them.

a lot of actors get into performing because of the fact they're shy, it factors the possibility to faux you're somebody else. So attempt that...attempt pretending such as you're a effective, eye-catching, articulate, smart and state-of-the-artwork women. and additionally you do no longer inevitably desire performing training, merely locate possibilities to act. college performs, community theater, etc. in case you desire it badly sufficient you additionally could make it take place. reliable success!

A director once told me, "If you don't feel stupid, you're not doing it right." I was very inhibited at the time, so I followed his advice , and just let it all go. Just immerse yourself in it, and try not to feel self-conscious. It gets much easier.
