Just wait until your baby decides it is time to be born.
I am totally old school in this respect. Your baby runs a higher risk of respiratory problems (even months later) if born early. Nature knows when the baby is physically mature enough to be born.

For the sake of your peace of mind, I think you should call the doctor and insist on an earlier appointment. Three weeks is too long to wait if you are really beginning to dilate. Be pushy if you have to. If they give you a hard time, tell them that you are going right to the labor and delivery section of the hospital. It's better to be safe than sorry. You don't want your cervix opening this early. In the future, I don't think you should be checking this yourself as you may be confused with what you are feeling and cause you to needlessly worry.

"Break it secretly???? Ummmm, ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Where does she/he have to fly off to for the holidays??? I'm a Labor&Delivery nurse,,,and trust me, dont do it,,,let that baby come when he's ready....if the baby wanted your water to break he or she will take care to that..and there is NOT a licenced practicing OB/GYN that will LEGALLY break a patients water at only 2 centimeters....BOTTOM LINE...It's a standard protocol of 4 centimeters and no less...It's your decision, and I know you want this baby out now..but is it really worth the risk? This doctor must not want to keep their licence to much longer...Can she or he say "MALPRACTICE"? It's a shame that some, not all but some doctors out there still have the GOD complex going on, to risk a mother and child's health and safety for safe delivery just so they can stick to their social plans....Please dont do it....and if I worked at the hospital where this doctor worked,,,(I'd report her ***...) Sorry to any physicians reading this that are patient FIRST, self, SECOND. Honey don't do it. And if you have another child, get another Doctor... Good luck dear....

I would get a new doctor if she is trying to secretly break your water and then wants you to say it broke on it's own, doctors are supposed to record everything on your chart I wouldn't trust and secret water breaking, you are 39 weeks pregnant you are in the last few days just wait it out and let it happen naturally

If the doctor feels that she needs to hide her actions then I would be worried about why. Your baby is probably mature enough to be delivered with no complications, but the idea of a doctor performing a procedure that she feels she has to keep a secret from her staff concerns me. If it is not a breech of medical ethics and there is no risk, then why all the hush hush. I would say wait, let things progress naturally. Her motives may be self serving.

At 39 weeks you can have the baby np only way i was able to get into active labor even with drugs was having my water broke. Why she wouldnt tell the nurses she did it i dont understand. You can try go walking that some times help labor start too.

I had my water broke at 39 weeks with my first son and all was fine. I don't understand why the doctor would have to do it secretly though, inductions are common practice.

I wouldn't rush it. Your baby is coming! Let your body do it's thing, let it naturally go into labor. It's the safest way. I can't believe your doctor said that. I don't understand why she would do it secretly. Many people ask for their doctor to break their water. Congrats, I bet your baby will be here very soon.

Yes, many OBs break your water in office, the hospital you deliver at may have a no induction pre 40 week policy & your OB does not agree, go for it!
As for what the person above said... you will not have a "dry birth" your amniotic fluid continues to produce until baby is born.

Good God NO ! No ethical doctor would even suggest that. The ambiotic fluid is there to PROTECT your baby ! It will break on it's own, and in it's own good time. If you were to let her break it; you will have what is called a "dry birth" ..which is VERY hard on mother AND baby !
Your baby will be born when IT'S ready, and I don't believe ANYone should try to hurry it along. That's just asking for trouble.
PLEASE DON'T DO THIS !
