Les Miserables. Do a marathon with that book because it's going to be very long. And then, read "A Christmas Carol," by Charles Dickens. Move on to Alexander Pushkin's novels; they are unbeatable. Any one will do.
And then round it all off with your favorite childhood book or story.

I've never tried to read to get into the holiday spirit because I think it is too easy to get distracted - especially if the book is long and unable to manipulate your creative brain cells.
If you find that a book does not do the trick for you, try renting the holiday movies, especially the first ones that came out like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, The Grinch who Stole Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, A Christmas Carol and the one Jimmy Stewart starred in, etc. These movies are classic and not only do they dance before your eyes, they will stimulate your mind a lot faster to get you in the mood.
While your mind is busy reading and imagining a story and waiting for it to unfold before you, a movie will be brilliant in its color and enlighten you while your mind lifts you up to the Christmas spirit.
Especially since you only have less than a month before Christmas gets here.
Happy Holidays!

Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" is a good short read.
Read the Christmas story from the 4 gospels, (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) in The Bible.
Write a letter to santa clause.

If you want to go the classic route, you could try "a christmas carol" by charles dickens. It is very well known, but it has been parodied so many times, few people have actually read the original

My wife loves "Skipping Christmas" and says it was about 1000% better than the lackluster movie they made out of it.
