I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I just had a doctors appointment. The doctor said I lost 1 lb. The past two appointments before that I had gained 5 lbs each time (horrible I know!) I hadn't changed my eating habits much since then...in fact I actually might have eaten a little more, because of Thanksgiving, yet I still lost 1 lb!

Is this normal?

Should I be losing weight toward the end or gaining more?

This is my first pregnancy and I've gained a total of 36 lbs...does that sound about right?

Thank you :)

I am 37 weeks as well (38 on Friday). I lost 19 pounds in the begining, gained 20 through out the rest of the pregnancy (including 5 at the 36 week mark too), and at my 37 week check up I also lost another pound. Doctor said it was perfectly fine. That the 5 pounds before was probably water retention, and the 1 pound loss could have been related to the water. He is not worried so niether am I.

I was a bigger woman to begin with, so they told me to keep my weight gain between 20-25. Also I wasn't trying to loose that weight to start off with, it just happened and I have no idea how! I just find it funny that I am almost 38 weeks along and weigh the same as before getting pregnant.

Anyway, congradulations! I hope you and your baby are healthy. Sounds like we will deliver about the same time. I'll race ya--LOL!

Have no fear, it is very normal to lose a pound or two, and not gain anything the last few weeks. 36 pounds total is terrific! I gained 38 with both of mine, and they were 5 years apart! BRAVO, you did Wonderful!! I had the same thing happen with my last pregnancy, and I was also concerned. I'm a Labor and Delivery nurse now, and we all have that same concern...You'll be just fine, and don't be surprised if you deliver in week 39!!! Start the walking and rocking in that dreaded rocking chair..A Christmas Holiday baby, HOW WONDERFUL IS THAT! You are truly blessed! Good luck!

It is quite normal to loose some weight toward the end of pregnancy.

Lucky you! I gained like 50 pounds for mine lol I wouldn't worry about 1 pound especially if your doctor isn't. You could have just been wearing 1 pound more clothing this time vs. last time

That sounds fine. I wouldn't worry.. It was only a pound.. And if your docter didn't say anything, I wouldn't even stress about it. Nice weight gain, btw!!
