I have had a fair bit of heart burn during my pregnancy but nothing as bad as the last few days. I am 40 weeks and 5 days my baby is fairly big so I guess he/she is pushing up and causing this heartburn. I have taken rolaids and diovol today but nothing is working what should I do I can't get any damn sleep. I have even tried a couple of glasses of milk. thanks for your help.

Oh poor you... I was right there during the last six weeks!

Bread helped - it absorbed the acid - but GOOD bread, not Wonderbread, Also plain white rice, ENO brand fizzy frink, Peppermint or Ginger Tea, baking soda in water, Tums... Arrowroot crackers. Try sleeping wit h your head raised up -Stick a couple of bricks under the head of your bed. And remember - it's only another week or so.

Congrats and Cheers!

Tums always worked best for me. I used to eat them like candy. They are calcium so I guess it was a good thing (I don't like milk).

Do you know the old wives'tale? If you have a lot of heartburn while you are pregnant it means your baby will have LOTS of hair.
LOL
I had heartburn with both pregnancies--one baby was bald and the next one had enough hair for 2 adults.

I am 32 weeks pg, and I have experienced some dreadful heartburn as well.
My solution: a banana
Yeah, it works! And always lying on my left side, especially if I have eaten less than two hours before going to bed.

I had reall badly heartburn when I was at the 7.5 month mark.

Everytime I ate I would vomit.

My OBE said it was acid reflux and he prescribed Zantac tablets (from memory) and I had it twice a day and I was fine for the rest of my pregnancy.

You can take Zantac safley and it helps. You may have to try sleeping sitting up. Thats what I had to do the end of my otehr two pregnancies. Also laying on your left side can help. Good luck!

Sleep with your head and shoulders elevated and drink water. Liquid antacids work better than tablets.

Hang in there. It's almost over.

try to make a different position while sleeping... anytime soon the baby will drop in your pelvis and you will feel relief
