I want to get the POA document notraized in US so that I can send it to India where my POA (my mom) can get it registered and can sign the purchase agreement of the apartment which I am buying from the builder. The builder has requested to sign the Purchase agreement ASAP.

My problem is, I have heard that I SHOULD NOT get it notarized from the public notary NOR from the Consulate. It did sould weird to me but thats what I came to know.

So, anyone out there can you please help me with this , as to from whom I need to get this POA document notarized??

Any help will be highly appreciated FOLKS.....

Thanks,

Seeker

If both of your signatures are required on the same document, you obviously have to have separate notaries! The notary here can witness your signature, then you would have to send that document to India, and if they need her signature, then the consulate would have to witness hers, notarized on the same document. But as far as I can remember, it ony needs your sgnature notarized!

You can get the POA document registered in your mother`s favor in U.S.A.. She can transact the deed on your behalf in India.

It is advisable to have the Power of Attorney legalised as per the procedure followed in US than to Notarise it.
