Their is more Nitrogen in the air than oxygen, because it is a very stable molecule (N2), it takes a lot of energy to react nitrogen gas with respect to Oxygen, oxygen is very reactive, (it is an oxidizer) so a lot of reactions can happen (ie. rust forming or combustion reactions) it is also good to note that because of this, that oxygen is the 2nd most abundant element in the earth's crust primarily found in mineral form (i.e. silicon dioxide = sand)

The primordial atmosphere of the earth generated from within itself around 4 billion years ago from massive volcanism. Like the other planets the initial atmosphere was more methane and ammonia rich and insignificant oxygen, The ammonia later broke into its constituents nitrogen and hydrogen owing to lightning strike.
The oxygen came much later. The credits goes to the photosynthetic plants who develop oxygen as byproduct. The content of oxygen varied with geological time but as nitrogen is comparatively more inert in chemical reaction so it remained almost in the same amount and topped the list.

I'm not sure its more present in the air. Are you sure you're not thinking of eath's atmosphere, because the atmosphere isn't the same as air in this case. We don't breath in that much nitrogen, that much nitrogen makes up more of the atmospheric layers than any other substance.

yes. it's something like 75% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and like...other gases make up the other 4%.

It's good that it is. Otherwise too much oxygen would cause the surface of the planet to be burned to a crisp with every thunderstorm.
