It really does depend on what you want - I have an 00 Civic so I'm more biased towards that. The civics are great because they are "The Tuner Car", and there are so many of them, so you can get parts easy and CHEAP if thats what you're looking for. They're also really easy to work on.

PRELUDE.

If you want to make the most out of your Prelude, like boosting it or whatnot, you want the base model.

If you want to do stuff like auto-x, you'd want the SH model. It has the ATTS (active torque transfer system). Depending on wheel speed and traction, it decides whether to send more power to the rear wheels, kind of acting like a RWD vehicle for the short time that you are cornering.

Also there is a Type-S prelude that comes with 220hp, but the base model is the best for modification. The last year that they made the Prelude (2001), they also came in Electron Pearl Blue. Or same as the civic SI blue.

And dont listen to the DSM guy, the Prelude is the only Honda with an H22. How can you say that it's weaker than other H22s? Makes no sense. Listen to Brittany, she's a smart girl!

I have a 91 Prelude non-vtec, and It makes more torque at 5800RPM than a civic SI does at redline. Weird huh? Stock for Stock Prelude is overall a better car, unless you want an economical car, get the civic. Besides they're becoming scarce, you can find a civic anywhere...which is pretty sad...darn ricers!

Kinda depends on what you're going for. The Civic is really hot around here, definitely not my preference for a *sports* car, if you just want a daily driver car, pick up the Civic, it's going to be the easiest to find parts for, because it's still made, and has millions of models out on the street of it. If you're going for a sportier ride, a Prelud Type-SH would be a good shot, I personally prefer rear-wheel-drive for my sports cars, but if I were forced to get a front driver, the Prelude and Volkswagen GTI/Rabbit/R32 would get the closest look (yeah, I know, R32's are AWD)

I hope to goodness the Prelude is faster. My wife drives a 00 Si and am less than impressed. Of course at the time we met I was runnin an 00 Mitsu Eclipse GST, THAT was a fun and powerful car. With 2 grand in the motor I was near 400hp and runnin flat 13s in 1/4 mile on pump gas and street radials.

what ever you do ...DO NOT get a Honda civic they automatically labels you a loser unless you have kids and you use it as a family car. although people may think they are cool their not...believe me...and civics are not f*cking sports cars...what the f*ck are people thinking! They WANT to be sports cars, but their not.
