Sometimes some people are just jerks who do whatever they feel like doing.
Sometimes, and maybe more often, there is some emotional-connection component missing in the existing relationship; and when someone finds that with someone else it is difficult for them to pass that up. Then there's the old "one thing leads to another" thing after they spend time together.
Someone once said that there was a marriage in which the couple spent every Sunday morning drinking tea and talking about their plans and their future and life. Suddenly, one spouse stopped getting the tea and said, "It gives me heartburn." This spouse would leave the breakfast table and disappear somewhere else in the house. During a divorce conference it was brought up by one spouse that it was clear the marriage was over "when the tea-drinking stopped". That kind of says it all, doesn't it?

One party is either in a bad or sad mood while the partner is not listening to her/his problems. And the third party is there to be the 'sympathetic' person who is just on time to provide the listening ear.

Most do it to feel better about themselves. People partner up to get a sense of belonging and contentment that they don't have alone. Once those things start to subside, they search for them in another.

General rule: lust. For a guy can only fight temptation up to a certain extent.
Others: Revenge - his partner cheated him first.
Loneliness - absence does make the heart grow fonder... for someone else.

I would say lack of interest either physically or mentally. But some times people are just horny scumbags and they only think about themselves not how they're going to affect the relationship.

well... in my opinion.. if your partner would happen to cheat on you its because of a number of different reasons. they could have believed that you werent high enough for their standards. the thrill of it. something to brag about. bored with you. commitment issues. they could of had a mishap with drugs or alcohol that made them perverted an want sex because they were pretty messed up an ended up sleeping with with someone they never met at a party. i dunno maybe he is jus a user whoever that someone might be.. hope thats enought info for ya...

When you have sex with the same person for a long time, the sex just isn't good anymore. Basically guys cheat on their girlfriends or their wives for sex.
