Why are people so ignorant in teaching their children about sex?

It's a natural phenomenon. I learned at age 3 when I became curious. I'm not promiscuous because I was taught that it's part of life; not a hobby.

Some parents have the misconception that if they ignore the "sex" issue that their children will not be curious about it. That is unfortunate. I had many young ladies come through the hospital where I used to work who were pregnant mostly because they were uneducated in the sexuality department.All children should be taught sex and they should be taught from the parents moral standards and background. I think some parents don't know how to approach the subject with their kids. I also think that many are uncomfortable with their own sexuality so it makes it very hard for them to talk to their kids and explain something that they are uncomfortable talking about themselves.

They don't wanna be real.

Many parents think it's something 'dirty' and should not be spoken about openly.

Then their children go and do 'dirty' things secretly and catch all kinds of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and then they are full of regret.

I'm father of 3 teenage kids.

My wife taught my daugther about sex when she reached 12.

I did the same for my two boys.

They are not shy to ask us about sex.

We are glad about it .

They don't talk about it because they are embarrassed and they think that by talking about it they are telling them that its ok to go have sex. What they don't realize is that the more you talk about it the less they will want to experiment to find out they are missing out on.

it will be better to teach our children about sex. it will make our children safe from dieses and make a healthy society. but due to shyness, elder avoid teaching about sex.
