Don't know if your car comes from the factory with one or not, some do, some do not. You can go to an auto parts store and look for one there, i prefer the ones that work in the radiator hose cause it's easier to install and usually works well, there are other types out there. Search and choose the one you like best, but make it snappy at those temps you may be in for big trouble if you don't get it done soon.

A block heater is a plug that is placed through the outside of the engine block into the coolant. It will have an extension cord that might end up near the grille since that is where you would likely be plugging in the heater. Most 'block' heaters consist of small electrical heating elements mounted into a replacement 'frost plug' installed on the engine block. The nice thing apart from a faster start is that the engine coolant is a bit warm and will heat up the car faster.

where to buy depends on where you live.
Most Automotive stores carry block heater plugs. If you are
in Canada , Canadian Tire will have them, & install as well.
In the USA, check yellow page book. Some Auto-repair
garages, will carry B.H. plugs. Your vehicle not starting could
be 1/2 dozen things. considering your truck is 95 & newer,
there is an excellant chance that your problem is COMPUTOR
chip related. your vehicle is Electronically controlled right?
1 of My vehicles is a 96 Van, it is all Electronic.
In the older 1/2 tons, your problem could be a bad starter
or your Battery power could be down or dead. check the
battery terminals for white corrosion. Clean them & the power
will get thru, to start.
* If you can Afford it, I highly suggest you purchasing a
Hand held Engine Analizer. This device when hooked to your
battery, by either plug in ( cigarete lighter) or direct to the
battery, will Electronically trouble shoot your engine, & will
Find Most Problems. price: USA- about $60. / canada -
closer to $80- $ 100. . Most Automotive stores.

Chances are it is either the transfer case shift motor, or the switch. You can check the connector at the motor to see if it is getting power with a voltmeter, or a test light. If it is not the problem is in the switch, or the wiring. If there is power at the connector, have someone flip the switch while you are under the truck to see if the shift motor is working. You should be able to hear it, or see it move the linkage. Both parts aver available through the dealership, and the shift motor is available aftermarket. And just in response to the answer above, my F-250 has had alot of problems witht he 4wd system, which is undeniably common, and Dodge trucks are very commonly having similar problems. I've replaced as many front axle disconnect actuators on Dodges as chevys, and more trnasfer case motors on Fords than anything.
