I'm fairly new to the whole House, M.D. show. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how House and Wilson met and if Wilson is younger than House. Thanks.

Great questions as House questions go. That is a story in progress. You don't know from the show how long they have been friends. you know that it has been more than six years because House and wilson knew each other when House was still living with his girlfriend, Stacy Warner. You know this from their conversations in season two. you know that house has been at the hospital for a great many years as he has tenure. You learned that in season one. So they have been friends for at least six years but not necessarily too much long. Why? It doesn't sound like House was there for Wilson during his two previous divorces. you learn that when Wilson is staying with House and he tells him that he is not acting like he is ready to move on with his life. house talks about his own actions not about Wilson's past actions. Still you have to imagine that they have been at the hospital for quite a while. House is the head of Diagnostics and a Nephrologist with an Infectious Disease background. Wilson is head of Oncology. It takes at least five years as an Oncologist to get that title. It's a legal matter. he is also on the hospital board, that implies even more years of practice. So you can guess that they have both been there for fifteen to twenty years and have been friends for a good portion of that time. If you want an exact number I would be guessing six years as friends and an additional nine years as colleagues. Why do I guess this? In the episodes at the end of season one when House is the patient, Wilson is no where to be found. If they were friends at the time he would have stuck his nose in the door. Cuddy is there but not Wilson. That seems odd. Wilson is there as House talks about the incident but says nothing, perhaps because he knows what happened , perhaps because he blames himself for not getting involved, but more likely because he is also hearing the story for the first time. So I guess six years. BTW, it can't be that good of a friendship because in the first season Wilson is able to pass off a complete stranger as his cousin and House is not the wiser.

I love, love, love this show. I'm not sure what the difference in age between Wilson and House is. They seem to have both been at the hospital for a long time. I highly recommend getting the first and second seasons on DVD. Totally addictive!

Keep watching. It's a great show and your not knowing the answers to your questions will not alter the experience. I missed the whole first season but have caught some of the re-runs on USA network. House's emerging character flaws in this season are much more interesting.

Go to the House website, I believe it is http://www.nbc.com/house

I love that show but don't think how they met has ever been discussed let alone their ages... if it has I was probably laughing from something that had been done or said on the show and missed it.

Damn Lord Z, you should put those detective skills to use. Great logic and attention to details.
