They might be a type of millipede. I've heard olf them infesting damp areas. If the curl up into balls when you poke them, they probably are.

buy some acetone, and try cleaning the area. Acetone (paint thinner??) will pull most the water out of the area, and will also suck all the water out of the worms...killing them instantly.
