It's a movie illustrating a real man and his sad but ultimately inspiring life and death. A freak of nature, he endured punishments from strangers as he was a poor man living on the streets. He allowed himself to be medically examined and studied in effort to prevent others from possibly having his same malady. His body is still on display in England, last I heard.
