How do you hook up an MP3 player??

I just tried to hook up a GPX model MW3836 MP3 player to my Dell computer but the usb cable doesn't fit any of the places you plug in to(sorry about all the technical computer jargon). What can I do? Do I get another cable? Is there an adapter? Whaaaaaaat? I don't know anything about this crap but I really wanna' get this thing going so help me out computer savy people.

The usb cable that came with the mp3 has a small rectanguler end abou7/16" X 3/16" and has 4 small holes.

The end that plugs in to the mp3 is even smaller sort of a rectangle and it plugs in just fine.

So what kind of USB cable DID you get? Describe the plug carefully... BOTH ends.

I cant imagine the problem. Have you hooked up other usb cables to your PC?
