hey,
I am trying out for Thorougly Modern Millie and I can't find an audition song!
I'm a sopranno.
I need something upbeat and of course from a broadway show.
My director doesn't want anything from the show to be used for an audition.
Oh, I would love to get Dorothy Brown. I need answers ASAP please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance!

Look into the following:
"Much More" from The Fantasticks
"I Caint Say No" from Oklahoma
"Show Me" from My Fair Lady
"The Lonely Goatherd" from The Sound of Music
"Glitter and Be Gay" from Candide
"A Little Bit of Good" from Chicago

You can search by voice type, type of song, age range... it's great.

Please don't sing Loney Goat Herd at an audition. Remember you are singing and acting at the same time. You need a song where you will be acting with an imaginary partner...

Try looking at songs from "She Loves Me" I really like the song "A Trip to the Library"

"I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" has some good upbeat female songs as well.

Of course look at all Stephen Sondheim..."Into the Woods" has a lot of choices for females.

Break a leg.

From Jesus Christ Superstar....."I don't know how to love Him"
Great song if you have the range and breathe control. It is also a good song to "emote" to so you can show off any acting talents you have. Most musical directors (that I have worked with) want to see a singer who can act more than an actor who can sing!

I used to work in theatre. I don't consider myself an expert but I have experience.

You should choose something that will show off "your" abilities. Vocal range, style and personality. Also, something that you are very comfortable and confident with.
