A great program for recovering deleted files is MediaRecover:

but, be aware that it will take a while for the program to scan your hard drive and it might not recover all of the files depending on how many times the section of the disk that had a file on it has been written over.

I had an incident once where i formated my drive and just had to have some files that were not back up and lost after formating...anyway i got this software called getdataback from www.runtime.org and i was able to get the files i need even after formating the drive
