submarines?

just wondering how do you learn to be a captain on a submarine, not just military. but civilian also?

Two totally different fields. To be a USN sub commander you pretty much need a degree in nuclear engineering, as you need to be a chief engineer first in order to qualify as a captain. As far as submersibles go, they are gradually being replaced by ROVs.
