H.I.M. is not goth, they are European pop-rock. They just try and look goth, like many bands these days.
Good classic goth bands: Siouxsie & the Banshees, Sisters of Mrecy, Bauhaus, the Mission UK, Joy Division, Swithblade Symphony, Fields of the Nephilim, Dead Can Dance, Alien Sex Fiend, & Gene Loves Jezebel.
More recent bands: the Cruxshadows, Andriod Lust, Voltaire, Faith & the Muse, Mesphisto Waltz, Razed in Black, Mira, VNV Nation, Collide, the Dreamside, & Hungry Lucy.

HIM is not a goth band.
Check out what the guy above said - Bauhaus and Siouxsie and the Banshees. Some of the other goth bands I'm into are Christian Death, Cinema Strange, and Bella Morte.

What? You're into goth and don't know what bands to listen to? Better change your clothes.

Evanescence, good lyrics/Marylin Manson, music has a nice dark tone, plus it's always fun to see what he will look like next, Slipknot/heir music is good when you need to vent/Rammstein, band to really vent with/Otep, only if you want disturbing lyrics, that's all I can think of, others that I listen to really don't fall into the Goth category.

All the cool kids listen to Bauhaus and Siouxie and the Banshees, not silly new music.
