Pretty sure no "one" is best, as it's a personal preference, for me, I'd say Samus from Metroid or Link from Zelda

Gravemind from Halo 2. He is a very mysterious character, unknown origin or purpose. However he still plays a huge part in the plot. Now that is one hell of a character.

Pac-Man, Samus, the two Contra(original one) guys, Lara Croft, and Princess Peach all party down the street. They all look like has-beens who resort to drugs.
