Exploding Sun frontman, lead guitarist and vocalist Tom Habich, has shared the stage with many prominent rock 'n' roll heavyweights. His songwriting expresses provocative and passionate meaning that strikes a universal chord. The power-pop style of Exploding Sun provides the perfect vehicle for Habich's rich melodies, dynamic rhythms and poetic phrasing.

A veteran of the New York City underground scene, Habich cut his teeth in clubs like CBGB's, The Cat Club, Nirvana, and Kenny's Castaways.

After more than ten years of gigging in Manhattan clubs and co-writing many original works, Habich moved to Virginia, where he began his career as a solo artist and in 1993, he released his first full-length CD, 'Avocado Nightmare.' The Hampton Roads area welcomed Habich's first effort with a warm response as two singles from that disc received regular airplay and two videos also aired on local cable programming ('Radio Vision').

Habich assembled a trio, including drummer Rob Guertin, and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Perez from 61 Seconds and The Plaid. They became Exploding Sun and immediately began working on Habich's latest compositions.

Michael Marquart from Windmark Recording offered a development deal for Exploding Sun to record their first full-length CD at his studio. After a few months, Exploding Sun released their debut CD 'Groan,' first to a packed house at Sunset Grill, then to a packed house at Kenny's Castaways in Manhattan, NY. Tracks from this disc received airplay on Virginia radio 96.1 WROX (96X) and 93.7 The Coast. Additional airplay for one of the tracks off 'Groan' was on Chicago radio Q101.

As a result of these accomplishments, the band was recently signed by longtime Virginia-based indie label Roo Records. For this project, Habich enlisted new musicians into Exploding Sun and they are some of the very finest from the area: drummer Trip Darden, bass player Patrick Meyers, backing vocalist Frederick Marx, and keyboardist Robin Miller. Successful launch parties at Kenny's Castaways in NY and Waterman's in Virginia have put Exploding Sun in the spotlight as one of the most promising young acts out of the Southeast. Airplay for the singles 'Blindly' and 'That's How It Goes' from this recent release have already received airplay on Virgina radio 93.7 The Coast.

Stay tuned for the latest Exploding Sun tracks, which are currently in the works. This new release clearly marks the artists' most marketable effort and continued success for Exploding Sun is seemingly inevitable.

They're might be an article somewhere about why the sun will NOT explode, but none proving that it will. To explode, our sun would have to be at least 1.5 times more massive than it is.
