Congratulations!

First of all, lemme tell you what the best book I ever read was (and I worked my way through every book that the public library has on pregnancy and childbirth): What To Expect When You're Expecting.

It's like the pregnancy bible. Has a big section for each month, including a picture of what the baby looks like then and a question/answer section. I had tons of questions that were answered in that section. They have a new edition that came out a year or two ago, and that is the one you will want, because it has info in it that wasn't avalable in the last edition. I got mine at Baby's R Us, but I've seen it other places too.

I think a mile is plenty, especially if you aren't used to that activity level already. I don't know about you, but walking a mile everyday would be a serious change for me. So I would think a mile is plenty, and be careful to drink plenty of water, especially when you get further along.

You're not supposed to sleep on your back because the weight of your expanding uterus pushes on things it's not supposed to. At 11 weeks, it's not a problem at all yet, but when you start to show, and the baby gets bigger, probably somewhere around 4-5 months, you'll need to stop doing that. You may stop sleeping on your back before then, because sometimes it'll give you a backache even before you are far enough along to show.

Good luck with the morning sickness. I had it pretty bad, and lost 15 pounds. I can't believe that you're happy about puking, but I understand your reasoning. And just think- after the sickness is gone, you'll start to show pretty soon. That'll be the next big thing to look forward too!

I had my son in February, and I think that if it wasn't for our money situation (he works in construction, and there is no work at all around here this time of year), I would be ready to start trying to get pregnant again.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to send me a message! I'll try to answer anything and everything as best I can.

Good luck and congratulations again!

i've had ear infections since i was 3 so i know how you feel with all that wax and **** draining out of your ear. (im 20 yrs and 15wks preggers). here is what i do. they do have drop they can give you to help break up the wax get that if you doint already have it. and lay on the side that is draining, in your case your left side and put a towel on the pillow, take a warm not hot wet washcloth and place that over your ear as well, do this for a while until the cloths cools, and then heat it up again and then you sit up straight or lay down on your right side, which ever is comfy for you, put the warm cloth over your left ear and the heat from the cloth should help break up the infection. i'm sure you know dont use q tips too deep. becasue that is really what causes most infections. hope this helps! good luck and feel better!

regarding the exercise - it depends on how active u were before u got pg. if a mile is enough to exert u, without exhausting u then it's fine. probably 2 to 2.5 miles (about 30 minutes) is better, but u can work up to it over the next few weeks.

sleeping on ur back is only a problem later in the pregnancy the baby is big enough to put pressure on ur vena cava, restricting blood to the heart. u shud know when this happens cos u will probably feel dizzy or maybe feel pain.

i was glad when my morning sickness stopped! dont worry. probably in the next 2 months or so u will feel baby moving

Also you can go to www.babyzone.com, my best friend for 8 1/2 months!!!!

Make sure you keep asking your OB about any questions you have, if they give you the run around-find a new one!! OB's know how emotions roar during pregnancy, let alone the 1st.

Buy the book "What to expect when your Expecting" That was my bible for 9 Months. It has the answers to all you questions. And you cant sleep on your back because the weight of the baby on a certain arterie can slow down blood flow. I hope this helps, so seriously go buy the book its sooo worth the money.

first and formost CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!....... your friend is correct you should not sleep on your back... the addes weight to your back can damage it.... you should actually sleep on your left side because there are less major organs on that side.... but if you are only 11 weeks the baby isn't big enough to really cause damage... make sure you stay away from anything fattening if you don't want to gain a lot of weight... the best book to follow is the what to expect while you're expecting book.... it is like my pregnancy bible... my doctor agreed with everything that i talked to her about.... i have had 2 very wonderful pregnancies with no complications and minimal weight gain... the amount of weight to gain for an over weight woman is like 15 pounds... you don't have to gain a lot of weight for your baby to be healthy... good luck in your journey

Thesebooks are the very best books to read if you're going to have a baby:

Ina May Gaskin's "Spiritual Midwifery" and "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth". You may also want to grace the pages of "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" I've included links below.

There is sooo much to know about having a baby and being a new mom, and I wish you all the best! Just follow your heart and common sense and you'll be just fine. :)

i am 25 weeks along with my first.....it sounds like you are doing everything right.....the book that is ALMOST accurate is "what to expect when expecting and "what to eat when Expecting"....those helped me but you have to keep in mind that ur not giong to have all the symptoms in there and you might have more.....i sleep on my back....or else try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs... best of luck with baby!
