The capture of an entire British Army secured the northern American states from further attacks out of Canada and prevented New England from being isolated. It emboldened France to join the war on behalf of the Americans.

well for 1 it showed the french we know what were doing so basicly they joined us cuz they now saw we know how to fight with the frenches help (since they gave us weapons supplies and troops traings etc.) we were able to win the war
many people say this was the turning point in the war
the capture of an ENTIRE british army this secured the northern states from being attacked by canada

first victory for america against the british and in 1777 the french needed a sign that maybe the us could win and with the results of that battle france entered on our side by poviding some naval help
