Matter can exist in either a liquid, solid, or gaseous state.
A) Iron nail is a solid
B) Gasoline is a liquid unless you are speaking of the fumes that can be seen or smelled and then it is a gaseous state.

physical props are when substances change their physical state, but not their composition. (i.e. boil, freeze, dissolve, melt, condense, break, split, grind, cut, crush, or bend)
Fe-iron-bend, cut, grind
gasoline- freeze, melt ,boil,

chem props are when substances have ability to change their composition (i.e. burn, rot, rust, decompose, ferment, explode, and corrode)
Fe- iron-rusting (especially when you place it in sulfuric acid)
gasoline-explode or burn
