Here is the deal. My lady redecorated my master bedroom. Man there is nothing that indicates a man also sleeps in that room. I mean it is all feminine! Comfortable, but feminine.

Share your experience with this. How did you feel? Did you argue about this?

I was told a little story by a co-worker that I'd like to share.
"I told my husband. Let's make a deal. You let me decorate the bed room, and I'll let you sleep in there with me." Well I thought it was funny.

A bedroom is a woman's domain. It should be soft and gentle. It should allow for the flow of love between a husband and wife. It should help create a world of fantasy and comfort. We currently are decorated in French chateau (think wine country) and the connecting bathroom is in European bistro.

My husband and I trade off. I get to decorate all the bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen. He gets the living room/family room, office, and entertainment room/den. Fortunately we agree on wood grains. (cherry)

I understand that if you weren't expecting what she did to upset you. But in the end it made her happy, and a happy wife is a good thing for a husband. It should pay off...*wink*

Edit - someone made a joke about plaid....please see link....My husband picked the colors. It's our breakfast nook/pantry.

GO shopping- look at the colors and options available for men.

I only decorate the bedroom in rich tone and simple colors that are warm and grounded. Manly colors done well is just as amazing looking.

WE have a comforter covered in tones of gray silk in dark blue trim some off white panels with muted tonal flowers done in a plnt motif rather then the floral boquet style and it work very well. The sheets are tones of the slate gray and deep blue. The bed looks designer fab yet looks like a man with taste and style sleeps in it.

Tell the woman the fabric she picked irratates your skin - rough not soft etc find an excuse and offer to help pick out a new set together and look for manly colors with silk fabrics- guys like these because they are cool on the skin and feel a little sexy. Women like the silk as a shiny pretty fabric. If she has blue eyes-compare the set's colors to her eyes- if that can't happen find a comment about sexy her skin would look on the coverlet's color etc I'm sure you get the picture.
For other decor items try mixing manly colors and shapes in lamps- vases or picture frames and then let her pick something herself.

Splurge on a good high thread count sheet set 600 or above and look for them in egyptian cotton or pima they are amazingly devine to sleep under.

Good luck on the shopping trip and one last thing- buy her something sexy to wear while your out that will look super on the new bedding she will feel like you matched her to it if you choose something in the colors you got for the bed.

Then race home- make up the bed - jump into it and have a fabulous time messing up the whole thing with fantastic sex!

Well where were you when she decided to do this? I would always want the room to be so that both people would enjoy it not just one. If she wanted a room she should have decorated another one not the bedroom. I feel it should be about both of you not just her.

My wife decorates the entire house. I keep my "male" touch by converting one room that is entirely - ME!

I picked a spare bedroom. I picked the furniture, the wall color, the carpet color, EVERYTHING! It is a combination desk with computer, stereo, dispay cabinet of things I love, a weight set and weight machine, power rack, etc. Of course she hates! the look of this room, because she did not do it, but is ALL ME!!

Wow, I can just imagine, flowers and pastels. Sorry for your pain. Perhaps you should talk with her and ask her to add some more masculine colors that will tone things down. Some blacks, chocolate browns, etc. Just by adding some of these colors can change the whole look. Good luck and God bless****

Get used to it. Men are the hunters, and women keep the cave. Sound sexist? Maybe, but even if you are both working, both are sharing housekeeping duties ..... you let her decorate the cave and things will be a lot easier.

Why do you think God invented garages? It's the only place in the house that a man can do what he wants.

As long as the sex is good in the bedroom I would let her decorate with whatever she wants
