It's not only real, but makes much more sense than the one most of us use today. The lunar calendar uses the 13 full moons each 28 days (364 days) plus a day of rest. No having to worry about how many days are in each month, or leap years.
The lunar calendar is based on nature's rhythms, not some manmade BS.

It is real, and most of our traditional festivals are celebrated according to the dates in the lunar calender. For example, people celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Lunar Calender, therefore every year the dates of the Mid-Autumn Festival is different in the solar calender.
We also call the Lunar Calender 農曆, the Calender of Agriculture. Some of the dates are stable both in the 農曆 and the solar calender, indicating the change of the climate of the season (for example, after 冬至, the Arrival of Winter, the weather turns colder than usual), and farmers can decide when is the best time to do certain field work. The first 3 months are spring (which is also the reason why Chinese New Year is also called 春節, the Spring Festival), the 4th to 6th month are summer, the 7th to the 9th month are autumn, and the 10th to the 12th month are winter.

We use a solar calendar in the west but the lunar calendar is much better. Most religions use the lunar calendar. Even Christianity--that how they figure out when easter is. The lunar calendar is muchmore accurate.

it is real for them, not everyone has to believe the same thing, however there are 13 lunations in a year, it truly is that way, and the wiccans use a lunar calendar too.

Yes, it is real, and I think it makes much more sense, since it follows the moon's steady orbit of 28 and some days, with holidays falling on a certain day every year, unlike the solar calendar, with leap days and all that junk.

G'day Ravens XXXV,
Thank you for your question.
It is real and was used officially between third millenium and 1928. It is still used in China especially in agriculture and is known as the agricultural calendar. It was a lunasolar calendar like the Hebrew calendar combining both the sun and moon cycles.
I have attached sources for your reference.
Regards
