One war was fought by attrition, one war was fought PC. You cannot win a PC war. You win by killing as many of your enemy as possible, until they no longer have the will or the means to fight.

i have never heard the comparison to WW2 and the Iraq war yet. Do you have many friends? Troops stationed in Germany are living with the civilians there and are stationed there for different reasons. You could potentially say that about S.Korea but not Germany. You probably don't know that the Korean war never ended...the fighting only stopped because of an agreement but could potentially re-ignite any moment. The N.Koreans are more of a threat than Iraq ever was (since right before the war popped off with Iraq is what i am referring to people).
btw...Germany is an awesome duty assignment! people are great there and know why we are there!

Hey man, I feel you, but the sad truth of the matter is that there really isn't anything good about war and occupation. Look, don't get discouraged - I think a lot of people know about the good stuff our soldiers do on a dialy basis - they aren't just out there kicking in doors and shooting people. They're handing out blankets, water, food - providing medical attention and desperately trying to protect innocents without getting themselves killed. We know that already --- all that's left really is to keep us updated on the events that unfold and unfortunately --- and dear god I wish people realized this more strongly 7 years ago --- most of the stuff unfolding in a WAR ZONE is NOT GOOD. It's bad. War is a bad, bad, bad, very serious, very ugly, very depressing, very deadly and death obsessed thing. I wouldn't fault the journalists. No amount of sugar coating is going to change what our troops face daily - and I think it would be a disservice to gloss over it and give "equal time" because the reality is the bad stuff is wayyyyyy more comon than the good. Sorry man. I have family over there - they keep me posted and I have to support them as they face stuff you and I only see in the movies.

Yes, obviously there are Americans still in Germany - alot. It's called imperialism...But the war ended in 1945. WW2 is not still being fought.
The USA joined the Allies in 1941...
ERGO, the USA was involved in WW2 for just under four years, while they've been fighting in Iraq for over four years. That's why.
God bless the USA for not having the balls to join WW1/WW2 from the beginning (as Canada/aus/France did)....but finding every possible excuse to justify the terror they have brought to Iraq. Silly question, no offense.
Another statistc re: the military...the USA dropped more bombs on Vietnam than they did on all of Europe during WW2. Way to go....both Iraq and Vietnam, definitely more of a threat than Hitler or the Japs.

What planet are you on? We don't have troops running around in tanks in Germany! This so called war in Iraq has taken more days and more taxpayers money than any other in US history get with the program!

The Iraq War lasted about 2 months. We've been in a post-war occupation ever since.
But if the Bush administration still wants to refer to it as a war, then the WW2 comparisons are valid. In this case, they are shooting themselves in the foot yet again.

what they dont understand is that we actually fought ww2 we are not fighting now we are trying to not offend. we could have ended this along time ago. we know they hide in mosques but its not okay to touch one. they refuse to fight a war but we have to follow war regulations. This is like playing one game with two sets of rules. It doesnt work when one side knows the rules of the other and can exploit it.

because it is true. Our troops have been in Iraq longer than the U.S. involvement in WWII.
That was different. In WWII we were fighting against other armies. No army can stand up to the U.S. in conventional warfare.
The countries in WWII wanted to be liberated. The Iraqis want us out of their country.

Because they have no clue how long that war actually lasted.
And they only go by the time that the U.S. was involved.

Are you actually claiming that the US is "at war" with every country where it has soldiers stationed?
