I had a D&C done to complete the procedure because my body wouldn't expell the baby on it's own. It's been about 6 weeks or so & I'm still bleeding. But it's not red. It's black with red streaks & really mucusy. (I apologize if this is gross) I had a follow up appointment a week ago. I don't have insurance anymore & it isn't covered under the procedure itself so I didn't go. I know you are going to say "go to the doctors" but has anyone ever had this happen & is it normal after having a D&C?

I started taking the pill after this happened & I am starting my 2nd pack this Sunday. So today is Wednesday on the sugar pills & my real "normal" period didn't even come.

Is it possible that the doctor missed the baby when they tried to take it out? I am going to buy a pregnancy test tomorrow to see if my body still gives the pregnancy hormone.

I am just looking for advice. Thanks girls.

ugh, I had a miscarriage and had a DNC too... I did not have a problem, that is very odd. It sounds like the membranes and other linings in your stomach are shedding. I am not a doctor, but that is what I am guessing. When you get pregnant--the lining of your stomach stregthens and all that stuff should have been cleared out with the DNC--that is the point, plus you the DNC helps make sure you don't get an infection. Can you call the doctors office and tell them you can not afford to go back in and see if it TRULY necessary??? Or perhaps, go to planned parenthood--they help people who can not afford medical treatment ... I would call planned parenthood, if your normal doctor isn't willing to help you. PLEASE take care of yourself though!!!! I think perhaps the doc didn't get it all out (gross, I know) but I am not sure... google and also go to webmd.com and see if you can find some answers that way.. Please keep us up to date, this worries me.

Don't waste your money on a pregnancy test. Even if they did not get everything your body would not consider it self pregnant. You really do need to go to the doctor. I understand that you don't have any insurance and it will be expensive. What you can do is go to your local health department. They do have a women's clinic there and they can see you for something like this. They will have you fill out some paperwork to determine how much if anything they will charge you for the visit. But trust me it wont be anywhere near what you would pay at the doctors office.

it's been a few years since mine was done, but i have to say, i don't remember bleeding lasting this long! even if it can happen, the bills should have stopped it by now!! maybe you can find a clinic w/ a sliding scale payment! if your income is low, it should not cost much! or they may give you advice over then phone on what they think!! don't mess around with your health girl! no amount of money is worth risking it!!

Hey Girl, If you even suspect this is as serious as it sounds, who cares about $. GO TO THE DOCTOR! Does your boyfriend/Husband know? After a D&C, your body can experience unusual bleeding. I did with mine. You can go to the emergency room. The hospital can not turn anyone away REGARDLESS of money or not, so please go to the ER for assistance.

You need to see your doctor & if you had medicade you can call your case worker & request a more time due to miscarriage compliactions, they will grant you more time no problem.

Sweetie, you really need to go to the doctor. This could be really serious. I hope everything is ok, but please, please go to the doc. I think the local health dept is a good idea. Good luck.
