Use more protection. And ask the pitcher to do so as well.

There is no such thing as a "comfortable cup" but I sure wouldn't work back there without one! I am an umpire, former catcher, LL thru college, and some semi-pro. I have found the McDavid compression shorts with the cup holder to be the most comfortable, (vs a jockstrap). I also gled a litte extra foam on the edges of the cup, makes it a bit easier to wear!

Regardless of age, if you have them protect them. There are many products on the market today so take the time to look. Go to some major sports merchandising company and look. Also, try their internet sites. Whatever, I would advise you to use some type of protection. All baseball player regardless of position should. A bad hop can ruin your day or a number of days. A jockstrap with cup pocket or cps shorts with built in cup, get what you feel is better. Just remember, a blow to that area will still hurt regardless if you are protected. The protection, however, will help reduce damage.

Ask your coach...And, as someone who spent 16 years in Oragized Baseball...I recommend that you learn to hit from both sides of the plate young man. A switch hitting catcher is someone who is very desirable in College and Professional ball. Good luck to you....
