Someone is purposely leaving their garbage and newspapers on top of my sidewalk mailbox. I know that their doing it to harass. What can I do if I catch them in the act? It’s been going for about a week now.

Assaulting your mailbox is a federal crime. Contact your postmaster at your local post office and report it. Give them all the information as well as the name(s) of the individual(s) doing this if you know who they are. Assaulting a mailbox can be a serious issue if you take it through the proper channels. If you called the cops, no big deal, the Feds, that is the way to go. It is their jurisdiction.

You don't have to catch them. You just have to report it to the Post Office and let THEM catch them. It could be considered tampering with a mailbox, which is a serious crime. .

Its a federal offense to mess with peoples mailboxes and mail.Video tape it and take it to civil court or try the postmaster first and see what he/she says then try civil court and file a restraining order.But I like to get even with idiots.

Jesus preached LOVE THY NEIGHBOR.If you catch them and they are not your neighbor then crucify them. Or keep some ingenious Inspector Gadgets inside the mailbox and hit them hard.

Payback is hell!! Move ur car let them think u aint home.When u catch them take note of who.. keep ur kool. leave the deposit between the storm door & entry door of their house !!It'won't be any fun if it's a kid.

set up a video camera to catch them in the act. then either play it back to them and tell them to stop...that you know they are doing it, or give it to the police and let them handle it.

leave a camera recording so u can catch who it is and report it wit proof
