i used to get a lot before. now i havent even got 1 for a year.
do you experience it often? is it our psychic side creeping out once in a while, or a predistined life that has loopholes we get into from time to time? or something else

Quite. Deja vu is a simple case of the brain storing information in the long term memory AND the short term (or working) memory simultaneously.
We have two parts of the brain dedicated to memory: long term and short term memory. Short term memory lasts for about only 30 seconds, while long term memory can last a lifetime. Normally, information is first allocated to short term memory and then through association or repetition, it is transfered to long term memory.
But once and a while, the brain will simultaneously allocate a piece of information to both long and short term memory. Since it's still in our working memory, it's fresh on our minds, but we also feel like it's something we've experienced a while ago also. That is because we are also "retreiving" this information from our long term memory even though the thing just happened.

Mark B has the most plausible answer; it's what I've been calling "instant memory" for years. And there's nothing "psychic" about it!
For the "psychic" (=fraud) on here: why don't you take James Randi's million-dollar challenge? Anyone who can prove they have paranormal abilities under controlled conditions will get the money and the fame that goes with it. As yet, *no one* has been able to fool Randi and his associates, because they know how you all do your cheap tricks.

I believe we are all psychic, but for the majority the gift or the belief has been long knocked out of them. Educated out is another way of looking at it. Many professional psychics have grown up in a psychic friendly environment. Perhaps a grand-parent or parent with the knowledge has helped bring the extra sense out in the open and encouraged its use. But there are as many practicing psychics who have not had the benefit of caring psychic guidance and who have still managed to develop and hone this natural extra sense. The Psychic Sense.
